Power Rankings 2026 - Pure Team Quality

What are Power Rankings?
These rankings use context-enhanced SRS that rewards tournament-relevant factors beyond raw efficiency. Unlike championship odds (which factor in bracket positioning and tournament luck), these rankings focus purely on team quality.

Ranking Formula:
- Power Rating = Base (scaled SRS) x SOS x Road/Neutral x Momentum x Quality Wins x Bad Loss Penalty x Conference
- SRS: Simple Rating System = Average Margin + Strength of Schedule (recursive, opponent-adjusted)
- Base: SRS scaled to 0-100 range for normalization
- SOS Rank: Team's national schedule strength ranking (1 = toughest, lower rank = tougher schedule)
- Road/Neutral (0.90-1.10): Rewards teams that win away from home (tournament relevance)
- Momentum (0.94-1.06): Weighted last 10 games (recent games count more)
- Quality Wins (1.00-1.15): Rewards beating top-10 (+2% each) and top-25 (+1% each)
- Bad Losses (0.80-1.00): Penalizes losses to 100+ ranked teams (-2%), 150+ (-3%), non-D1 (-5%)
- Conference (0.85-1.15): Multiplier based on average conference SRS strength
- Color coding: Green = boost, Yellow = neutral, Red = penalty
